This pattern comes from my friend Erin Hodgson who taught me to crochet just over a year ago. We were on holiday together with nothing much to do.. so out came the hooks, and I've loved it ever since! Who knew so much joy could come from a hook and some brightly coloured yarn??
Colour 1 (inner circle)
chain 2, 11 double crochet into circle, join with slip stitch, cut yarn and knot.
Colour 2 (petals)
attach new colour in between 2 DC beside where you ended the last colour. Pull the yarn through and tie a knot to secure.
3 chain, 3 triple crochet into the same space, 3 chain, secure into same space with slip stitch.
Single crochet into next space along (we're not making a petal here)
Single crochet into next space along (this is our next petal)
2 chain, 3 triple crochet into the same space, 3 chain, secure into same space with slip stitch.
Repeat this pattern all the way around and finish with a slip stitch into the first space where you started. Tie off.
If you want to make a 5 petal flower, in the inner circle do 9 DC instead of 11.
And to make a 7 petal flower, in the inner circle do 13 DC.
